Son Cubano with a modern twist
ClaveAché is a Cuban music powerhouse created by Raul Cisneros, a much acclaimed Cuban-British percussionist, producer, director, and songwriter with more than 20 years of performing experience.
Born in Santiago de Cuba – the second largest city in Cuba where music never stops, Raul entered into the world of percussion at the age of eight. Winning a scholarship, he undertook formal music training at the prestigious Conservatorio de Musica Lauro Fuentes in Santiago de Cuba. Over the years, he has also studied and worked alongside many local percussion masters such as Ramon Marquez and Milian Gali. After moving to London UK, Raul has expanded his music genres, performing and recording as a percussionist and drummer with some of the top artists in the UK, such as English singer and song-writer Jess Glynne, Peter Andre (UK tour), English actor, producer and DJ Idris Elba (Ibiza Residency), and the world-renowned Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta (production Cubanía). Raul’s varied styles of playing reflect his Latin heritage and the London music melting-pot experience. He plays with great passion and abundant energy, often with a flair from the streets deeply rooted in his Afro-Cuban identity.
Founded during the midst of the pandemic, ClaveAché aims to represent, preserve, and promote the essence of Cuban music. Audiences have been captivated by the group’s energetic performances, which feature an authentic Cuban sound with a modern interpretation. In addition to original compositions and arrangements by Raul, the group’s repertoire spans from traditional Cuban melodies to Afro-Cuban jazz.
